With its 11 million inhabitants, São Paulo embodies the exact definition of a megacity: an urban jungle where people have to struggle in order to live decent lives. In this type of environment, creativity occupies an essential place, as it is one of the most effective ways to take a step back from the asphalt and concrete.
In the fields of architecture and design, The Estudio Guto Requena is a superb example of one of the city’s creative resources. Guto Requena, a 36 year-old architect and urban planner, tackles multiple domains in his work, including interior design, architecture, urbanism, light installation, and digital experimentation, creating a unique blend of all that the urban world has to offer.
In just over a decade, Guto has explored, imagined and created daily objects, furniture and lamps, using experimental shapes and has contributed to the interior decoration of the economic capital’s night clubs. Thanks to his knowledge and experience in so many fields, he has taken part in a wide range of projects.
As a specialist in light and Digital Creation, Guto Requena has also contributed to the renovation of a hotel façade in his native city, with a project called “Light Creature”. The building is now equipped with interactive luminous panels that endow it with a poetic and futuristic aspect, embodying a reinvention of the urban space from the outside. From A to Z, Estudio Guto Requena brings a convincing wind of change to the city of São Paulo, from the intimate spaces of interior design to its most viewable structures.
